From the start, my gut feel was that Sara Duterte-Carpio will not gun for the Presidency… yet. This came despite the clamor of the public for her to run as shown in pre-candidacy filing surveys. She was a shoo in to the position, no doubt, after her dad’s successful 6-year run as President. The people loved and trusted PDuts that most people wanted continuity and SDC was initially seen as the person who can do it. I guess the Duterte Legacy in Davao and Philippines is in the minds of the Filipinos.

But Sara is a league of her own. I have seen her strength and leadership that rivals her father. She is not a Duterte who lives under the shadows of her dad. She IS Sara Duterte. A strong-willed leader who carries her own name and brand anywhere she goes. She stands on her own and creates her opportunities. She knows what she wants and she will achieve it in her own style and in her own time.

Like what I have said in my previous blog, I am looking for continuity. I am looking for leaders who will continue the leaps of progress of the Duterte administration. We cannot deny the progress of the city of Davao under the Dutertes, from the dad to her daughter. The continuity of the local government programs in Davao paved the way for it to become one of the progressive cities of the country. Her stand on issues have always called for that continuity and love for country echoes in me.

Her breadth of experience in the executive position is what I am looking for. I want a Vice President who can take an active role in nation building, unlike the incumbent. SDC’s potential to be part of the future cabinet is promising where she can contribute immensely in creating and leading projects that has a direct impact at national level, not just on a targeted audience or community. This is where her experience in local governance come into play. She can execute programs effectively and efficiently since she understand how and what happens at ground level. Her understanding is rooted on her experience as a local executive, not just on theories or what info is being fed to her.

She is a strong woman, void of the usual drama and perceived gender issues. She slugs it out like the rest without expecting any special treatment. You see her doing her own thing, walang pagpapanggap. Yung totoo lang. What you see is what you get. I guess that is how PDuts raised his kids. Every now and then, we see her blurting out a “punch” or two, to our amusement. While BBM is tight lipped on negative campaigning, Sara does not take it too hard but she knows when to “throw a punch”, to our amusement. She does it with style and grace that one wouldn’t have noticed that a hit was delivered. Just like BBM, hindi kelangan magpakita ng “ibang” persona, yung totoo lang ay sapat na.

SDC is a team player. You have seen how she supports BBM. She does not overpower even, when she knows, she can. She stays on the sideline and does not take the “spotlight”. She understands the role that she is going to take after her win this May. She strikes the balance with BBM. She understands that her support to the frontrunner will play a crucial role in this election and in nation-building after the election. Sara knows when to take charge and when to take a seat. Her support to BBM is unwavering. She believes in their standard bearer and she shows that in all her campaign sorties.

It is inspiring to see the mutual respect between BBM and Sara. The respect and the call to come together echoes stronger than any hyperbole. The respect that she brings on the table as early as now is what every leader needs – support. Remember that being Vice President of a country entails the responsibility to help in nation building. Personal and party interest take the backseat when you are elected to the position. Sara is THAT Vice President that we have all been wanting the past 6 years. There… I said it.

I agree that a vote for the President should be a vote for the Vice President. The Unity Tandem of BBM and Sara is a strong force to be reckoned. No visual optics can hide the fact that, at ground level, the call for unity is stronger than any shifted color. Sara is my VP and I am looking forward to seeing her take an active role in nation building in the next 6 years, and not just a mere spare tire as accorded by our constitution.

Initial forecast on who is going to be the next President in 2028… the Daughter, te.

The election trail is slowly reeling in the best and the worst among candidates and their supporters. We are seeing aspirants getting a wave of support while others try to project something big out of a measly meal. I have seen candidates make out a rallying call while others make out cheap tactics and shifting branding until now. Yes, it speaks a lot about these aspirants and how they see the “masang Pinoy”. You can already see who has a plan and who is trying to make out a plan. You can already see who inspires people to move from those who simply are just tickling the funny bones.

I guess for most people who have been following , some are probably monitoring me, on my social media accounts, you are probably aware by now that I am one with the Uniteam. My choice for President is BBM and my choice for VP is SDC. Yes, I have had my fair share of being asked directly and indirectly as to why they are my choices. I have realized that, in most cases that I have been asked this question, the one asking really had no intent to listen to what I have to say and he or she is more concerned with striking a “discussion”. This is the primary reason why I decided to write down my thoughts on why I chose BBM.

I am looking for a leader who is pushing for continuity. I want someone who will continue the good things that the PDut’s administration has started. Yes, this administration is not perfect but we cannot deny that it has accomplished a lot in the past 6 years, more than previous administrations. I am looking for someone who would continue that progress. Filipinos have been deprived of these changes for decades and it is about time that we get to advance with programs that would benefit everyone. Programs that made me think out loud – “kaya naman pala, bakit ngayon lang?” I am tired of government officials who are more concerned about going for projects that benefits their politics more than people. So I chose the one candidate that has echoed the call to continue these programs clearly- BBM. I seriously think that the vote for change was already done in 2016. This year is going to be a vote for continuity so I am voting for one who calls for unity and continuity. I chose BBM.

More than the personality politics, I am going for a candidate who has a clear vision and plans of how he wants the country to move forward. I am not looking for one who is projected to be a “savior” or a “saint” or someone who cannot even deliver a cohesive answer on a simple question. I want someone who has a clear structure for the country and has the ability to translate these thoughts to Filipinos. These plans should be rooted on what’s best for Filipinos. He can explain these programs in detail because you can see that he owns it, and not just planned out for him. We need a leader who has a strong platform rather than someone that can be manipulated like a puppet. Furthermore, the leader should be able to communicate these programs effectively to the population because in the end he needs people to rally behind him once he is in office, just like PDuts. People rally behind Duterte and that is why he is enjoying a good satisfaction rating until now. Most Filipinos believe in him. That is the kind of leader that we need. One who can unite us to take action. BBM’s battlecry resonates the same that there is progress in unity. We can only achieve real progress together. He stood by that ground from day 1. There was no need to shift colors or re-brand the battlecry. He has a strong platform that resonates on his clear and direct battlecry – “Sama-samang BaBangon Muli”. Derecho at hindi matalinghaga. Konkreto ang sigaw at hindi paiba-iba. Here is a link to his platforms – https://www.facebook.com/100050250739904/posts/496075665410787/?d=n

I am voting for someone who believes in the Filipino pride, not some borrowed false sense of pride that shifts colors. I think that the true movement of having the sense of being a Filipino started in 2016, not earlier as much as how some sectors would like to play it out. It was in 2016 where I saw Filipinos rally behind the Philippine flag and the colors of the flag being used as a representation of our race. This was the time of Duterte and I want the same this time around. I chose a leader who stands and believes in the Filipino. One who chooses to safeguard our welfare more than the party affiliations. One who rallies behind the Filipino pride rather than a borrowed pride from a “privileged” family and their associates. One who respects Filipinos from all classes and does not cultivate intellectual and moral arrogance against others. One who unites more than divide. One who speaks well about the country over those who speak ill, sputtering baseless accusations. I will always vote for the one who speaks well for the country and the Filipinos. Remember that this campaign period gives you a glimpse of how a candidate cultivates a particular culture among their supporters. Does your leader compel you to be unifying or to hate? My choice promotes a unifying platform and gives me that sense of pride as a Filipino in action and in representation. My choice is BBM.

I want a leader who leads in actions, without the media, more than words. A leader who has decades of experience working in the government, preferably with experience in the executive role at a local level. This gives them a broader understanding of the roles played in the executory arm of the government. At this level, experience matters more than educational attainment. A leader who practices what he preaches and inspires his supporters to do the same. A leader who takes action even without the camera – action over media exposures. That is probably why BBM connects stronger because he does not have to put up an image, just like Duterte. I am choosing someone who will lead the country, not someone who will lead the prayer.

Marunong makipagkapwa tao kaya totoong konektado.
