I am not and was never a fan of PNoy. I never voted for him and was very critical and terribly disappointed with his administration. I saw him as a President that was placed in position just because of the circumstances surrounding his mom’s death. His administration was the worst among the four administrations that I ever experienced. But throughout his term and even after, I never wished him ill neither wished for his demise. Now that he has moved on to the afterlife, his death, I believe, marks the end of the yellow cult in the country.

Contrary to what his avid followers are trying to project, I remember his administration for its lot of misgivings – the deterioration of the MRT, EDSA traffic, Yolanda tragedy, the loss of Panatag Shoal, the Corona impeachment, and the deaths of SAF44 to name just a few. It was the worst administration among the four administrations na kinamulatan ko. The administration is the worse and my only consolation was that it was these unforgivable misgivings that paved the way for me to actively campaign for a better government to which I am proud to say that I was not wrong for doing so.

Some would say that the economy improved DAW under his term but movement in economics was primarily driven by what was laid out by his predecessors. It was prepped for him and what his administration did was just reap its benefits and make stake to its claims. The economy went steady but that did not transcend to anything relatable to the common Filipino. Reality check lang… the common Filipino did not feel the “better” economy. An international paper stated it clearly… Philippine economy improved but his administration was not able to transcend it to what was needed on the ground. Sad but it is true.

I saw this post that said that is the pandemic struck during his term, things would have been better. I beg to disagree. The mismanagement of the Yolanda crisis was his administration’s crowning glory. It showed how politics played out to the detriment of the Yolanda victims. It showed how incapable his chosen men in handling a crisis like that. If Yolanda was going to be our bearing, I am glad that the pandemic did not strike during his time otherwise we would be in a far sh*tier place than where we are now. To put it in perspective and this is what I told my doctor-wife – “pasalamat tayo sa palamurang Presidente dahil kahit madumi ang bunganga niya ay nabakunahan ka at LAHAT ng kapamilya natin na walang nilalabas na pera. Kung sa dati yan, wala ka pang bakuna at pababayaran pa sayo.” I still stand to the same statement until today.

I will not argue about the way he was perceived as not corrupt but I will not say the same for the people around him. He may have lived a life that is free of corruption but his turning a blind eye on the corruption happening around him is a fault on him. Remember how Yolanda funds remain in question until today? Remember how his administration bribed senators to get a yes vote against Corona? He may have not been corrupt but he allowed it right under his nose.

I am writing this not to destroy him but to correct the “make believes” being spread. He was not a saint neither was he the best President. He was not even close to being a good one. Look around you and see how most people are not affected by his death. Stop

creating a story that we were better off during his time. We were not and I am one with most Filipinos to say that we are better NOW. Sadly, we would have been better off without him as President.

His only legacy that I remember is the fact that it was during his term that I finally said enough is enough. Filipinos deserve better so I voted for change and change did come. We are getting there slowly and change is a long process. The death of PNoy has proven again and again what we have known for the past 5 years – the yellow submarine has sunk.

Onward to continued change!👊🏽
